For Linux, and using ASMLib, we make a single partition which is the whole
disk. I vaguely recall issues with ASMLib and non-partitioned disks.

fdisk -l /dev/sdr

Disk /dev/sdr: 36.5 GB, 36549427200 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 4443 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdr1               1        4443    35688366   83  Linux

Cheers,
Duncan.

Gopal,

Does it still make sense to create a 1 meg partition with linux?

If I did this, than /sda1 would be 1 meg and unused and I would create the asm
disk with /dev/sda2 correct?

Thanks
Randy
