So, back to my original question. Do I have a single point of failure? I have single raw/block device LUN which is configured within ASM as an ASM diskgroup (ASMSYS) with EXTERNAL REDUNDANCY to hold a single Voting Disk. At the SAN level I am told by the sysadmin that it's either RAID 1 or RAID 5. I concur with you about having the OCR mirrored. Am I just being silly or could I have a serious issue down the line... --- On Wed, 19/9/12, Radoulov, Dimitre <cichomitiko@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Radoulov, Dimitre <cichomitiko@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Voting Disks and OCR on 11.2.0.2 To: "Zabair Ahmed" <roon987@xxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wednesday, 19 September, 2012, 11:32 On 19/09/2012 12:26, Zabair Ahmed wrote: Also the ora_asmsys_disk01 is a raw/block device, see below.. /home/grid > ls -trl /dev/ora_asmsys_disk01 crw-rw---- 1 grid asmadmin 18, 82 19 Sep 10:54 /dev/ora_asmsys_disk01 Is this supported in 11.2.0.2. I thought I read that raw/blocks devices are not supported for storing the Voting Disk and OCR. Am I missing something here? We are using ASM to store the VD and OCR. I believe this is just a LUN that contains an asm disk wich is part of the ASMSYS disk group ... Are you worried about the "c" (character special device)? I believe this is normal, you have block and character special devices for that LUN. Dimitre -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
