In fact, both my aliases have been meaningful names such as "XXORANS01" and "XXORANS02" (substitute XX with a prefix of your choice). This has helped me change servers around with no problems at all. However, note if you have a Names Repository (and I would assume you do) that you will have to specifically update <schema>.ONRS_REGION table for rows that may contain the actual hostname. The simple fix would seem to be to setup a DNS alias (CNAME) for the box. However, I have not done this before, and would like to test it.
