"dba_audit_session" was the userid he was using trying to login. So in the case of Marge Smith, her account id will show up instead of notauser

Instead of coding this by hand, why not just leverage the provided functionality?

SQL> connect notauser/notmypass@mydb
ERROR:
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
