It's a problem with the language, and its appalling verbosity. Being strong and 
silent type,
I intensely dislike such verbosity. Also, I don't particularly like fixed 
format languages. 
I like the mess I can create with perl and PHP. COBOL compared to perl is the 
same thing as 
a boot camp compared to a party. I prefer partying to marching & shooting. The 
point of my post
was not about COBOL, you caught me by surprise.
