Correct (and in fact any HTTP-enabled thingy (such as WebDAV)) as in "Anonymous Access to Oracle XML DB Repository using HTTP" - see
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14259/xdb22pro.htm#CHDHAGBF

Subject: Tricky oracle user name

We are trying to document the purpose of some Oracle users which are new in
10g for auditing requirements: ANONYMOUS. Why name a user anonymous?

I could not get an answer from Oracle documentation.
Thanks.
