It throws a different error when you try to create a tablespace with a
block size that hasn't been accounted for in the instance. Metalink
blatantly says "16k is a limitation of Windows". All I can hope, hope,
hope for is that eventually this will be one lever we can use to push
this database off of Windows and onto Linux.
I've been able to do this on my dev environment, where I have
tablespaces that are 8k and 16k. I could not create 32k+ tablespaces
there, either (surprise).

Please excuse the dumb question, but I'll ask just to be safe. Are

trying to create a tablespace with a block size different from your
instance's block size? Are you able to create a tablespace with any
different size? I also dimly recall something about Windows and block
size,
but since I don't use Oracle on Windows so I promptly forgot it.

Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition, 9204, with disks allocated from
2 Clariion SANs
Several of these disks were formatted at 32k and 64k block size. I was
under the impression the limitation on tablespace block size came from
the os block size. I can't create a tablespace with a block size
greater than 16k, it fails. =3D20
Metalink says this is a limitation of Windows.=3D20
Anyone run into this, and if so, are there any creative ways around this
limit? I can't even open a TAR. It keeps kicking me out. Googling
this returns nothing useful.
