Hi Mladen, I was there at that time in Maastricht too. In fact, I am born in Maastricht, although on a ship that happened to be in that old town in Limburg in Hollannd. For me it's my hometown.. I had my fights with Ken Jacobs also when I was still working for = Oracle. I remember when Oracle 8 beta was being launched internally in Oracle and = that I ran into a bug, for which I tried out a workaround but then ran into another bug for which I tried out a workaround but then ran into another = bug for which I tried out a workaround but then ran into another bug. Then frustrated to the limit I sent out an email to the internal rdbms mailinglist complaining that 'we should test more on 8 before launching = it' or something similar. Ken's reply was a kick in my ass because I should = not have been so negative.=20 Unfortunately I lost this email. It looks=20 like they don't want to have database which is too easy to handle so that DBA staff wouldn't get spoiled. I=20 believe that the only way to get Oracle to do it is to pressure IBM to put something like that as a UDB feature.=20 That would motivate Oracle Corp. to do something about "default index tablespaces". Obviously, questions and=20 requests from the despised creatures like Oracle RDBMS users (known as "suckers" within the Oracle Corp) are not=20 nearly enough. I personally asked Ken Jacobs for that on EOUG which was held on 1995 (I'm not sure about=20 the year) in Maastricht, NL. Few months after (June, 2005) its still not there. May be, it will work in=20 July 3005. No guarantees for anything earlier then that. --=20 Mladen Gogala Oracle DBA Ext. 121 -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
