Thanks Dennis To get a position "exclusively" as a dba, I need a good certification. Because currently I'm more time developing than dbaing :)
I really don't have too much time to be in the database, frequently I forget some important points I invetigated previously, beacuse my mind must be in other tasks.
I think I will have to be about 5 years following your advice to get a better positioning as dba, as the one I could get with a good certification, I'm 34 years old, and I want to get an specialization in one area.
I'm not telling this is a bad idea, but to take that about five years to get a sun certified enterprise architect, on java technology, will be more profitable. Finally a certification is a certification, and it allows better positions, and a better positiosn, is better to be even more specialized on the subject.
Juan,
So you're saying that you already have the OCP and you would like to get the Oracle Master's? How expensive would it be for you? What benefits would you gain? Do you have clients that would be impressed to the extent that your business would increase? There are other ways to increase your expertise and visibility among Oracle professionals. I think you have made some good moves in that respect. If I recall correctly, your native language is not English. What about translating some works on Oracle into that language? Not an easy task for someone who is not an Oracle DBA. Translators are much respected. I would contact the publishers of some of your favorite books.
