Ben,

We do not generate diff SQL - we do not use a designer type tool. Most
of our apps are 3rd party and they provide the SQL. For our in house
apps, the developers provide the SQL to me to run through test -> qa ->
prod.

The point is, we have this repository as a history of the changes to the
databases.

Hi Ron,

But CVS cannot generate the database schema changes for you. Right now
we make schema changes in Designer and generate the diff sql and apply
it. How do you implement schema changes with CVS?

We use CVS for our repository.

Hi

Just wanted to canvas the list to see what people are using for version
control of their database schema objects. We have been using
SCM/Designer for schema objects and CVS for applications.

I have become increasingly frustrated with Designer and would like to
use something else. I see that TOAD for Oracle has an interface to CVS,
as well as other versioning software. I may play around with that as we
already have both of those products in house.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
