Not sure how this would be possible.
The OP said "one common ASM instance on *a* server" to manage storage of
multiple instances on *different* servers.
An ASM instance on a server can only serve database instances on that same
server. That is, anywhere you have a database server and want to utilize ASM,
you MUST have an ASM instance running.
I suppose you could have a situation, where you have say three database
servers, dbserv1, dbserv2, and dbserv3. You could install clusterware, install
ASM on top of that, and have clustered ASM, even if each of the three dbservers
are running different single instance databases. In this case, there'd be an
ASM instance running on each of the dbserv* boxes, +ASM1, +ASM2, +ASM3. Not
sure what benefit there would be to this configuration, if any.
But no, I don't think what the OP initially asked would be possible.

It is probably possible, but the ASM database will have to be clustered.
