Root.sh fails for the fresh 11gR2 oracle rac installation

Hi,
I have installed the oracle RAC on the RHEL5.3 vmaware.
oracle cluster version: 11.2.0.1
I got the below error while running root.sh on the first node.
CRS-2676: Start of 'ora.ctssd' on 'rac1' succeeded
Creation of ASM spfile in diskgroup failed. Following error occured:
ORA-29783:
GPnP attribute SET failed with error [CLSGPNP_RD_ERR]
Please help us on this.
