Dennis, without kidding, the only place that I know that has such setup is 911 department of the state of NY. I know that mostly because I used to work with the top-of-the-line DBA who used to work there. It's a Canadian guy by the name Bernard Antonouk, and he is really good. During my tenure at OXHP, we were splitting EMC, but it was raid 1+0 and we didn't have 3 copies, but 2 copies, one production and one for performance testing. Bernie used to be one of the top guys at Ingres and he was consulting in NYC in the late 90's (97,98,99). I don't know where is he now, but he would be a guy that I'd look for if I needed a setup like that. -- Mladen Gogala Oracle DBA email:mladeng@xxxxxxxxx Ext: 9787 > -----Original Message----- > From: DENNIS WILLIAMS [mailto:DWILLIAMS@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Friday, August 20, 2004 12:25 PM > To: 'oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' > Subject: RE: ****** RMAN backup for multi TB databases ****** > > > Mladen > And if you've used RAID5 for the really large database > (probably a data warehouse), then recovery might take longer > than you expect.
