Hi Rich,
Can you do a restore preview and see whether the older archive logs (which
you think that are not needed) are shown in the output as needed ? You can
also do a crosscheck on archive log and see whether that fixes your problem
during your next backup run.
Thanks,
Vishnu

Hey all,
In 11.2, I have an incremental RMAN backup strategy with a level 0 done on
Sunday and level 1 done every other day of the week, with archive logs
running every 15 minutes. Retention is set to a "RECOVERY WINDOW OF 1
DAYS".
Why are the archive logs older than 1 day not considered obsolete? My
understanding is that a complete (or recent PIT) recovery would be:
- Restore level 0
- Recover all level 1 backups
- Recover archive logs since last level 1
So, why are the older archive logs not obsolete? I see keeping at most 2
days, but there are currently 5+ days in the FRA.
I'm not using a catalog if that matters (and the controlfile autobackup is
on).
Thoughts? With an archive running, I realize that my FRA freespace is
way lower than I'd like...
Thanks!
Rich
