My doubt here is .. how will RMAN get the files ? Where will it go and find
/read the files from ?
..........it will look in the same dest on the target as was specified on
the source

Subject: RMAN Recovery without Catalog

Hello All,

NOTE : This is Recover a databse on ANOTHER node using RMAN WITHOUT Recovery
Catalog.

I am trying to recover and create a database from Host A to Host B

Here are the steps.. I found in oracle documentation but am confused a bit..

1. Copy the control file using OS copy utility.

2. Copy INIT File using OS copy utility.

3. connect with rman to target with nocatalog

rman target sys/pw@host_b[1] nocataclog

startup mount;

now

allocate appropriate channel and all that..

restore database;

recover database;

alter database open resetlogs;

My doubt here is .. how will RMAN get the files ? Where will it go and find
/read the files from ?

Let me know if someone has performed NOCATALOG RECOVERY and has steps
documented which work.

Thanks

Nik
