I think that the idea here is to bypass the "GUI" Linux installer, but to eventually install and run X-windows in the final configuration. In a lot of cases, this *will* work. The "GUI"-based Linux installer uses a stripped-down X-windows configuration that *should* work on most hardware, but it can fail on hardware where a more full- featured X-windows environment will still work. The suggestion is reasonable. ('Course, I still like VMware, especially on laptops where "unusual" hardware can be a major issue.) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jesse, Rich" <Rich.Jesse@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Monday, December 19, 2005 1:01 pm Subject: RE: OT: Redhat linux install issues > Perhaps, but unless there's already an Oracle Installer script > ready to > go, it's going to make it real difficult to install Oracle. > > Rich > > -----Original Message----- > From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of jon > Sent: Monday, December 19, 2005 11:11 AM > To: ryan_gaffuri@xxxxxxxxxxx > Cc: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: OT: Redhat linux install issues > > > use text mode installer > > > On 12/19/05, ryan_gaffuri@xxxxxxxxxxx <ryan_gaffuri@xxxxxxxxxxx > > wrote: > > This is sort of Oracle related.
