I agree- I can easily set my control_file_record_keep_time to 180 days, and the control stays below 60mb. But that is running abour 4-6 RMAN backups a day. My testing indicated that at 8k block size and sensible backup frequencies the controlfile size limit wouldn't interfere. Hung my testbed for several hours doing it mind.
