I agree-  I can easily set my control_file_record_keep_time to 180 days,
and the control stays below 60mb.  But that is running abour 4-6 RMAN
backups a day.

Hmm I'll have to lookup the test, but I configured a controlfile catalog
to store a years worth of backup info - no catalog both client
requirements, don't ask. My testing indicated that at 8k block size and
sensible backup frequencies the controlfile size limit wouldn't
interfere. Hung my testbed for several hours doing it mind.
