Hmm...In my view, "today" is 9iR2.  10g is the day after tomorrow....;-) =
=20

I have not done much w/ 10g yet.  We are just now getting to 9i on our =
largest databases.  (Roll out in prod is 8/21.)  So, I don't see myself =
doing anything ssignificant w/ 10g for at least another year.

But, it's good to know about these new features.  Thanks Tanel!

I couldn't resist again, but if "today" means Oracle 10g you can use =
"alter
table shrink space cascade" (after you've allowed row movement on the =
table)
which will compact both your table and it's indexes online and even =
lowers
these segments HWM.

It doesn't lower index'es height though, this would get too complex to
handle..
