Ran into same issue and the short and official answer we got from oracle was...
'sorry, you can't'

You may however be able to negotiate a better response.

Hi Mark,

The short answer is that I think you should check with support (sorry).

I did a little research.  The 11.1 Pre Installation
Checklist<http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b28264/chklist.htm>says:

"You must use the same operating system on each node in the cluster. Oracle
strongly recommends that you use the same software configurations on each
node of the cluster."

There is similar language in the RAC FAQ, metalink note 220970.1.

To verify what "the same" is, I checked with some knowledgeable sources who
indicated that the configuration you suggest would be fine for a short time
during a rolling upgrade, but not for long term production.
