Not necessarily:
 
There's lots of speedy NFS out there.
 
However, you should always use a "real" NFS storage array for your redo
logs - so do not EVER export a database server filesystem via NFS and
use it on another node for redo log storage.  Bad things could happen.
Leave NFS to the professionals....
