Hello,
Take a look at Mike’s blog
https://blogs.oracle.com/UPGRADE/entry/welcome_to_the_oracle_database
With a limited downtime, if you need to take the previous one untouched
(11.2.0.4)
1) Duplicate your 5TB database as a standby
2) Sync it with archives on regular basis until the maintenance window
3) Open the standby database
4) Upgrade it to 12c
Obs.: You will need to install 11g and 12c on your new host.
Att,

Assunto: Populate new 12c database
The database I am currently running is on 11.2.0.4.0. We went and build a new
12c database on a different node.
I am now looking to populate my new 12c database with my 11 database data.
What's the best method with limited downtime? I was thinking of using RMAN but
not sure that's possible. We are not looking to do a traditional exp/imp pump
it will take to long and the database is over 5TB.
Thanks.
