It's AUTO for my data tablespaces and MANUAL for system, temp and undo.

Nothing sounds strange these days. Tell me, what is the contents of  
SEGMENT_SPACE_MANAGEMENT column in the dba_tablespaces table for the
tablespaces where you created those tables? I've had an interesting
discussion with Tanel Poder about that not so long ago.
