So tell us how you really feel, Mladen! ;)

Rant, rant, rant. So anyone who gives you a patchset is locking you in? I=
don't think so. :) Still, if it made you feel better to send this, it ob=
viously helped.

OK, enough poking fun at Mladen. I owe him a couple still, so I couldn't r=
esist. True, there are some people from Oracle reading this list. Not sur=
e who else does it apart from me, but I'm sure there must be others. Let m=
e just comment on one part of Mladen's mild post, since I don't have any im=
pact on release times or product quality. Very little information comes ou=
t from the development side of the house, either internally to other Oracle=
staff or externally to clients, on when patchsets are going to be availabl=
e. We generally get a rough idea, like the analyst told you, and that's ab=
out it. Having work with the Oracle product set for nearly 15 years now, l=
et me simply say I don't believe Oracle is any worse in getting software re=
lease dates right than most other software companies. It seems to be endem=
ic to the industry that planned dates always slip. Of course, that might s=
eem to be exacerbated in the case of a product like Oracle that ships on ma=
ny different operating systems. In this case, what you're looking at is po=
rting time to the platform you're after. I assume from earlier posts that =
it might be Linux? Again, I don't have any specifics on release dates, but=
you'll no doubt be happy to know that the development groups in Oracle are=
moving to developing on Linux, so in the future there won't be the porting=
 time for Linux users.

And, of course, the analyst didn't mention which year they were talking abo=
ut! ;)

And this doesn't square us off, I still owe you a couple more! :)

Subject: Patchset 9.2.0.6

What the heck is going on with 9.2.0.6? 9.2.0.5 is buggy as hell, with all
this stuff about ASS Managed tablespaces,
index corruption, instance termination and alike. 9.2.0.5 is likely the
worst patchset ever produced by Oracle Corp.
What are they waiting for with 9.2.0.6? Christmas? Patchset for 32-bit
Solaris has been released on 10/25. I am
really annoyed by the monopolistic "we locked you in" behavior of Oracle
Corp. I know that some people from Oracle
are reading this list. It would be nice tell us when can we expect fixes fo=
r
this buggy piece of s...oftware.
When I opened my last TAR, the analyst told me to expect it at "the end of=

October/beginning of November".
It's mid-November. Where is the @#$%! patchset?
