Alex, That is somethinbg I have been looking at briefly. I believe that the easiest option is to restore the data files using RMAN and then use the ALTER database file you mention. If anybody knows better please feel free. PS I am only talking upto 9.2 versions as I don't know what is in 10g yet. However, I always thought that this parameter affects *only* instance crash recovery. Moreover, Oracle documentation mentions this several times as well. So my Q. is again - how do I go for parallel media recovery with RMAN?
