I did not do it with Peoplesoft,
but with a simlar time depenend App where I made such a partitioning. Hope the
concepts do work with PS as well.
Do you Partition by Year of EFFDT ?
Yes, I would. It does keep your buffer cache cleaner by moving old rows to an
older partition
Your estimations are better because of partition stats.
Do you create Locally Prefixed or NonPrefixed Indexes ?
definitely locally NonPrefixd. Do don't want effdt leading an index. Guess you
would be due for all kind of unpleasent surprise, cause the optimizers sees
effdt as very selective.
