I searched on metalink on the exact phrase +ACI-ALTER DATABASE CLOSE NORMAL+ACI- and all the words: +ACI-ksedmp: internal or fatal error+ACI- and received 18 bug reports. I think you will need to open an iTAR and upload the trace file to get help from support narrowing down the issue. Stopping the database using a +ACI-shutdown immediate+ACI- is a pretty normal task so, no your cold backup is not the root cause of the error. The problem occurred while the database was being shutdown. This could be a space leak issue. As long as the database starts cleanly you can probably live with it. If your database is 8.1.7.0 you should consider trying to upgrade to the terminal release for the version which is at least 8.1.7.4. I notice some errors in alert log and trace file but quite don't understand the root cause. Can someone look at errors and explain to me if my cold backup is a root cause that brought server down. I really appreciate your helps. +ACoAKgAq-Alert log: Thu Dec 23 01:01:01 2004 Shutting down instance (immediate) License high water mark +AD0- 7 Thu Dec 23 01:01:01 2004 ALTER DATABASE CLOSE NORMAL Thu Dec 23 01:01:01 2004 SMON: disabling tx recovery SMON: disabling cache recovery Thu Dec 23 01:01:01 2004 Thread 1 closed at log sequence 36120 Thu Dec 23 01:01:01 2004 Errors in file /u01/app/oracle/admin/insidera/udump/ora+AF8-31883.trc: Thu Dec 23 01:01:01 2004 Errors in file /u01/app/oracle/admin/insidera/udump/ora+AF8-31883.trc: Thu Dec 23 01:01:02 2004 Errors in file /u01/app/oracle/admin/insidera/udump/ora+AF8-31883.trc: Thu Dec 23 09:26:44 2004 Starting ORACLE instance (normal) LICENSE+AF8-MAX+AF8-SESSION +AD0- 0 LICENSE+AF8-SESSIONS+AF8-WARNING +AD0- 0 +AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQA9AD0APQ- +ACoAKgAq- TRACE file: +ACQ- cat /u01/app/oracle/admin/insidera/udump/ora+AF8-31883.trc /u01/app/oracle/admin/insidera/udump/ora+AF8-31883.trc Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.1 - Production With the Partitioning option JServer Release 8.1.7.0.1 - Production ORACLE+AF8-HOME +AD0- /u01/app/oracle/product/8.1.7 System name: Linux Node name: insidera Release: 2.4.18-14smp Version: +ACM-1 SMP Wed Sep 4 12:34:47 EDT 2002 Machine: i686 Instance name: inra Redo thread mounted by this instance: 1 Oracle process number: 8 Unix process pid: 31883, image: oracle+AEA-insidera +ACoAKgAq- SESSION ID:(8.8648) 2004-12-23 01:01:01.636 Exception signal: 11 (SIGSEGV) +ACoAKgAq- 2004-12-23 01:01:01.715 ksedmp: internal or fatal error Current SQL statement for this session: ALTER DATABASE CLOSE NORMAL ----- Call Stack Trace ----- calling call entry argument values in hex location type point (? means dubious value) -------------------- -------- -------------------- ---------------------------- Exception signal: 11 (SIGSEGV) +ACoAKgAq- 2004-12-23 01:01:01.891 ksedmp: internal or fatal error Current SQL statement for this session: ALTER DATABASE CLOSE NORMAL ----- Call Stack Trace ----- calling call entry argument values in hex location type point (? means dubious value) -------------------- -------- -------------------- ---------------------------- Exception signal: 11 (SIGSEGV) +ACoAKgAq- 2004-12-23 01:01:02.067 ksedmp: internal or fatal error Current SQL statement for this session: ALTER DATABASE CLOSE NORMAL ----- Call Stack Trace ----- calling call entry argument values in hex location type point (? means dubious value) -------------------- -------- -------------------- ---------------------------- Shadow+AF8-Core+AF8-Dump +AD0- PARTIAL -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
