I'm actually reading through the Rampant 10g New Features by Mike Ault right
now, and I have been very pleased with it.

What was so wrong about Rampant books? Some people that I personally know
and respect (Arup Nanda) have written books for them and authors like Mike
Ault are writing for them as well. If Robert Freeman of RMAN book fame
doesn't
have an evil twin, then I'd trust that book. I doubt that reputable names
like
Robert Freeman, Mike Ault and Don Burleson would be connected with Rampant
if
they were that bad ? I own the "New Features 10g" book and it contains
exactly
what I bought it for: an overview of new features in 10g, and rather
extensive
one, too. It's not a DBA guide, I am not going to master 10g from a single
book,
but with Oracle manuals, it helps me with finding and studying the new
features.
So, my personal experience with Rampant is not at all bad.
