Very interesting, I didn't know that until now and the published docs
seem to be a little inconsistent -
From page 4 here:
http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/databaselicensing.pdf:
"When licensing Oracle programs with Standard Edition One or Standard
Edition in the product name, a processor is counted equivalent to a
socket "
But, from page 15 & 16 here
http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/sig.pdf:
"Notwithstanding the above, when licensing Oracle Standard Edition One
or Standard Edition programs on servers with a maximum of 1 processor
with 1 or 2 cores, only 1 processor shall be counted."
So, in the first doc it sounds like it applies regardless of the number
of sockets, but in the latter it sounds like this applies only with a
max of one socket, so I guess the best bet is to confirm with your
Oracle sales rep and get it in writing as usual, but it sounds like you
are confirming that the first model was applied in your case so that's
good news.
