Apparently, regardless of what you've been told, this was *not* the account
used to install Oracle. Or else someone has messed with it. You need to be
a member of the local group ORA_DBA. Also, you need to have the
environment variable or registry string value ORACLE_SID set to the value of
the sid to which you want to connect, but lacking that will throw a
different error.

Subject: Oracle on Windoze

I'm a *nix command line type DBA who has next to no experience
directly supporting
Oracle on Windoze.
I get logged onto the DB server system as "administrator" & this
account supposedly
was used to install Oracle.
However when I open up a command window & invoke SQL*PLUS and then
/ as sysdba
The error message reports I have insufficient privileges.

How do I get into this DB as "SYS"?
