I really found Sane SAN to make sense whe I first read it. I have now
been told that it is "insane" and very expensive and removes any
benefit that can be derived by letting the EMC Symmetrix do it for
you. The person that told me this is an insanely (IMHO) overpriced
consultant who then explained to me his recommendations which
basically were that we needed to monitor "hot blocks" at the database
level and move stuff around. Something about EMC can handle the load,
but the Operating system has bottlenecks that can only be overcome by
manually load balancing the database objects.

I spent considerable time venting to my supervisor. We will see what happens.
