Morning Dennis,

While not exactly a script, chack out Nagios (www.nagios.org) and when
you have it running (on a linux box) get some of the plugins for Oracle.

I'm using it to monitor all my production databases, listeners, WebLogic
stuff, Apache servers and so on. I can see 'at a glance' from one Web
page in my browser what's up and what's not.

You can add your own scripts in almost any language to the tool and run
them against any database (or other object) you like. It's pretty simple
and well documented.

It is, to all intents and purposes, 'super cron', with bells on.

Cheers,
Norman.
