We have probably close to 1000 Oracle instances (including a few
hundred RAC clusters) running on VMware - it's not production, since
we're a development shop, but we open cases with Oracle all the time
without getting any hassle, *unless* it legitimately looks like
something OS-related.
I know of at least four fortune 500 customers off the top of my head
that have thousands of production instances of Oracle running on
VMware.
So people are doing it in the real world, despite whatever Oracle says
about supportability.
Note: I do not know a single customer who is using OracleVM in
production. Oracle should just give up on that already.
