Oracle9i 64-bit can run in 32-bit mode.

Talk to your Sys Admins.
The AIX 5L server must be booted in 32-bit mode to run 64-bit Oracle9i on it.

Or check it yourself...

On server running in 64-bit mode you get:

$ oslevel
5.2.0.0
$ ls -l /unix
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     system           21 Apr 22 2003  /unix ->
/usr/lib/boot/unix_64

On server running in 32-bit mode you get:

$ oslevel
5.2.0.0
$ ls -l /unix
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     system           21 Oct 31 19:49 /unix ->
/usr/lib/boot/unix_mp

Cheers!
