If I were you, I woudn't tread the path you are on. Sure, you can install
some software after all majority of them are dynamically linked. Look at how
oracle binaries depend upon solaris 10u7: c libraries (libc.so) and features
that new kernel supports in the area of memory and process management.  When
$h1t hits the fan, it boils down to these dependencies. That's why it is
better to follow the recommendations of oracle, if one doesn't know how
binaries are inter related. Even if you are an l33t systems programmer with
deep knowledge in these areas, it is not worth playing with prod boxes.
