I should have added that we are on Oracle release 11.2.0.2.0, HP-UX 11.31.
This bug seems quite plausible to me...we also get a lot of trace files
with "CursorDiagnosticsNodes" messages that are similar to another bug,
but Oracle Support hasn't confirmed this yet.
