Simply the fact that OFA uses ../bdump, ../cdump../udump for various = trace files and that is how Oracle is installed by default and that is = what you will find in most other sites. I go with what the majority do = because sooner or later I might be working somewhere else and I don't = want to make it more difficult then I have to. =20 -----Original Message----- From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Mark Moynahan Sent: Tuesday, February 03, 2004 4:52 PM To: 'oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx' Subject: OFA - dump destinations We are currently working installing a 9i db on a new box. The senior dba wants to put all trace files into one directory on = $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/log. I've suggested that this is not the best practice prescribed by OFA. = Does anyone see any major issues with keeping all trace files in one = directory?=20 Thanks, Mark ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html ----------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html -----------------------------------------------------------------
