Rich, I hadn't heard of those issues.  Do you have any bug#'s I could check 
related to them?  Also, for the checker script you use, would you be willing to 
share any details on it?

We haven't run into any of the issues you mentioned, but then again if at some 
time a job was found not running anymore, more than likely a lower-level DBA 
got blamed unjustly.

I'm happy to see that you've not hit bugs where GC jobs fail to initialize
or worse yet, just silently disappear.  Support was not able to explain it
nor offer any help, so I created a script to verify the status of GC jobs.

I've since dropped all but one of my GC jobs, but still run my job checker
script (via cron) against the repository every 30 minutes.
