Edgar, What snapmanager does is mounting the the snapshot as a virtual volume and then running the rman catalog command to catalog the datafiles within the snapshot as a datafile backup copy. So, if you want you can write a script that does the exact same thing. regards, Freek D'Hooge Uptime Oracle Database Administrator e-mail: freek.dhooge@xxxxxxxxx tel. +32 (0)3 451 23 82 http://www.uptime.be disclaimer ________________________________________ From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Edgar Chupit [chupit@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: 16 March 2009 09:43 To: cshapi@xxxxxxxxx Cc: oracle-l Subject: Re: NetApp SnapManager - Solution for test db creation and storage reduction Hi Chen, But what about NetApp integration with RMAN. I was browsing NetApp website and found out, that the only way to integrate NetApp snapshot facility with RMAN is to use SnapManager plugin for Oracle RMAN, is it so or there are ways around it? Honestly, I usually feel more comfortable, when RMAN/Oracle knows about backups and can be used to do recovery. Best regards, Edgar Chupit callto://edgar.chupit -- //www.freelists.org/webpage/oracle-l
