I haven't yet had a chance to try using nconnect and dNFS together, but
it is planned to do so.
They aren't really the same idea, I believe. Direct NFS is connectivity
from each Oracle server process directly to the NFS server, bypassing
the kernel-based NFS client. Nconnect appears to be multiple network
connections per process. So I expect nconnect and dNFS to have a
positive complementary and multiplicative effect. If you get there
first, please share?

Thanks Tim. I actually found your blog already, it was good information. About /nconnect/. I have no heard of this yet but is it the same concept as Direct NFS? Can they be used together?

I blogged about the fun I had getting dNFS working with NFS 4.1
HERE <http://evdbt.com/oracle-dnfs-on-nfs-v4-1/>.
Another good thing about RHEL8/OEL8 is the new NFS option
nconnect; good blog post HERE

Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with NFS version
4.1? I am currently running version 3 but we are getting new
hardware which will have Oracle Linux 8 running 19c databases
running on direct NFS.
I read about 4.1 requiring oranfstab to be present. Any other
issues anyone run into?
Thanks,
Jeff
