No one can tell the future. But at the present, yes, MS Windows dominates 
where I am and in the indusrtry I work in. Linux is making few small nibbles 
but has hardly any precense.

No one get's fired for buying MS and that's usually the rallying cry of IT 
managers when you try to get them to use a different OS.

If you are starting up and have no clue what to do, just go with the flow and 
you will be fine.

It also pays to be platform agnostic and be a jack of all trades. Makes you 
more flexible to changing times.
