If you want to learn, the best you can do, is to create a database, but
generate only the scripts and run them manually.
out of that you have net start and net stop to start and stop services.
You can schedule tastks in os using AT 23:59 CMD /C SQLPLUS ADM/***@SOAB
WORLD @C:\AT\TEXT.SQL for example.
You must know DOS, if you want ot manage users and your are in nt 2000 you
have to go to active user management, and not local user namangement.
In the resource kit are some utilities for example to delete services, didn
t drop correctly, this not ahppens frequently. But can help you some times.
Don't use screensaver (no one), it takes too many cpu, only block the
pressing ctr-alt-del and block.
You configure the nt for file sharing or for application, in nt 40 you have
to set manually the second cache
That is what I remember now.

I have recently added Windows oracle on NT as well again. I used to work
with them 2 years ago but the memory is a tad foggy.
Does any one have any cheat sheet summary of the Windows oriented
administration commands..
Like:
dos window, set ORACLE_SID=<oracle_sid>
set ORACLE_HOME=<path eg. D:\oracle\ora81>
exp.bat files par.files
oradim utility
The services that get started.. Ones you don't need etc.
The ora_dba group that administrator needs to be in and so on..
Would be much appreciated... Even if it is not complete. As I ramp up, I
will create a nice cheat sheet to share with those who want it.
Books are ok but I am looking to see if someone has condensed it all down.

I recently accepted a position with a company that strictly runs Oracle on
Windows. I've been working in an HP-UX environment for the last 4 years. I
need to come up to speed quickly. I know next to nothing about Windows
other than from the standpoint of a casual user. Any suggestions on where
to start? I don't believe I'll be doing much outside of Oracle's
interaction with the OS.
Any good books/websites/blogs for Oracle on Windows?
.....please no jokes. ...i know, i know. I have been told they are
thinking of getting into linux which is encouraging.
