Dear All,
thank you very much for your input. Support confirmed that this is a certified combination. There is a document available with updated infos regarding the installation (for those people without metalink access):
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15666/toc.htm#CJAFHGHG

Have a nice day

Manuela,

Installing using this parameter is not going to render your installation
unsupported. It is something that is necessary because RH5 is newer then
oracle 10gR2.

You could also change the oraparam.ini file to include RH5 as a certified
version.

Please check metalink Notes

421308.1 - Requirements For Installing Oracle10gR2 On RHEL/OEL 5 (x86_64)
169706.1 - OracleR Database on AIXR,HP-UXR,LinuxR,Mac OSR X,SolarisR,Tru64
UnixR Operating Systems Installation and Configuration Requirements Quick
Reference (8.0.5 to 11.1)

For installation instructions on RH5.

-ignoresysprereqs is one. You will have to check the spelling on this
one as there is some upper case in there somewhere

Subject: Install CRS 10.2.0.1 on RHES 5 64bit AMD

Dear All,
I'm trying to install Oracel clusterware 10.2.0.1 on RHES 5, 64 bit AMD
architecture.
Metalink lists this combination as supported, but OUI quits with
following message:

<quote>Checking operating system version: must be redhat-3, SuSE-9,
redhat-4, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1 or asianux-2
                                    Failed <<<<
</quote>

Has anybody done a RAC installation with this combination, any ides?

Kind Regards
Manuela Atoui

Dear John,
I know about -ignoreSysPrereqs but this is a 4node RAC with 20TB, our
new production system and we can't afford loosing support.
I already opened a SR and thought maybe someone int the mailing list had
encountered the same problem.
Thank you very much for the hint and have a nice day
Manuela
