IO-TIME in V$FILESTAT

Hi,
I would like to ask a general question. How reliable are READTIM, 
SINGLEBLKRDTIM, AVGIOTIM statistics in V$FILESTAT in 11.2.0.4 and 12.1.0.2? I 
vaguely remember someone had advised me a while ago not to rely on these 
statistics.

Any feedback will be appreciated.
