I believe that may not be true. Oracle has recently acquired a and announced a
proxy server that can interface with any and if I remember right multiple
directory sources.

Subject: Re: How to setup LDAP

At the time I was researching similar subject the way I've found is could be
done was:

- deploy OID + Single Sign On (expect to pay $$$ for license because you'll be
slapped with Advance Security Option cost for each database you have to
configure with OID)
- deploy provisioning from corporate LDAP to OID. There are bunch of adapters
to do that. I didn't finish this completely because of lost interest due to
budgeting constraints

Unfortunately Oracle has no interest to support 3rd party LDAP servers out of
the box for user authentication....

        Hello Everyone,

        I have :

        DB version 9.2.0.7 <http://9.2.0.7/> and 10.2.0.3 <http://10.2.0.3/>
        DB Platform Solaris 8, 9 & 10

We have database username/password authentication with some security
via profile.

Our management has decided to have all authentication done through
(existing) LDAP. Please forgive my ignorance, but I do not have any idea how to
set/test in test environment.

Most of search directs me to OID. I am not sure I need to use OID. Do
we need license to use LDAP?

        Any documents/pointers are greatly appreciated.

        Thanks
