Hallo Andrew,

this is also my experience. The last VMWare Workstation version, on that I
was able to install shared disk was 4.5.

On my Lenovo T60, with 3GB RAM, I can get only 2 VMWare WS running somehow
acceptably. The third VM (openfiler 2.3)

is just creeping and the laptop is swapping. In this setup (2 Linux VM +
Openfiler VM) I am getting ~ 1-2 MB/sec read/write throughput (from VM to VM
). The alternative with shared disk is much more acceptable (id the hardware
is inadequate).

Yes, I tried it once in VMware workstation, and it kept on telling me
clustering was not supported. Which meant it would not let you share one
drive between two workstations.

You can do it in vmware workstation if you set up a 3rd workstation as the
NAS server. Like I said, I set it up in vmware workstation using 2 OEL
workstations, and 1 openfiler workstation. Its not too hard, and gives you
a much better feel for what a production RAC installtion is like.

Sorry didn't notice that.. Pretty sure workstation doesn't support
shared disks.. at least the version I used at the time I tested RAC
didn't.
