the following will assist you in changing the hostname for your cluster:

Modifying the VIP or VIP Hostname of a 10g or 11g Oracle Clusterware Node [ID
276434.1]

Subject: How does the RAC tell you to go to another node?

Hi List,

I'm facing a strange problem with a RAC. From what I gather, when I try to
connect to a node and it sends me to the other (because the service I'm trying
to access is on that node) it does so by returning the hostname of the other
node. My question is, how does it know what the hostname of the other node is?
is that configured at installation? can it be modified? It returns an FQDN that
doesn't exist... so other than adding the entry to the client's hosts file, I'm
at a loss here.

I don't know if my question is clear enough, so here it goes again:
where do I set up the hostname of the RAC nodes?

thanks
Alan.-
