I have been able to get data about tablespace usage going back over a year.  It 
is summarizing the information by day.

No It still seems to be a glaring omission.
It only keeps historical data for default 7 days, which can be increased of 
course at the expense of space, but you have to keep a lot of extraneous data 
to get suitable numbers to determine capacity planning.
Hopefully 11G will have this whenever that comes out.
