What is port 1830 used for? Where does it need to be open. What
"machine/service" initiates the connection and what machine/service is the
target.

I've got folks working on a firewall request and I must have missed 1830. How
does the use of port 1830 differ from port 4889

You need to open ports 3872, 1159, 1830, and 4889
1159 is needed if you are doing secure communication.
