Do a full database export on the HP using exp for 7.3.4.
Create the new database instance on the Linux box.
Transfer the dump file from the HP to the Linux server via Binary mode.
Import the data back into the new database using imp for 8i or 9i.

Subject: Export from HP Unix / Import to Redhat

We are getting ready to upgrade an Oracle 7.3.4 HP Unix database and in
the process move the database to an Oracle 8i or 9i database on an Intel
Linux platform.

My question is; How do I move the data from one to the other? Are the
formats compatible?

Thanks!
Ron Smith
