Rajeev, latency is not very high ... 64 bytes from 172.23.xx.xxx: icmp_seq=1 ttl=251 time=22 ms . The SRL problem got solved when I noticed that the remote database was NOT in archive log mode. Once I bounced the standby database in archive log mode , the SRLs began to be used. But a strange observation is that of the 5 SRLs , only 2 SRLs are being used, irrespective of which ORL is in use on the primary. This issue is similar to the one discussed in Carel's mail.
